Under-Over-Confident

People who are optimistic are more likely than others to display prudent financial behaviors, according to new research from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business.

But too much optimism can be a problem: people who are extremely optimistic tend to have short planning horizons and act in ways that are generally not considered wise.

How often do we hear such delusive bullshit?:
“It’s all good!”
“Have a great day!”
“TGIF!!!”

This sort of reality denial is a symptom of overall dysfunction, and its everywhere. I'm sick of it. Only really out of touch people are truly as optimistic as the commercial media would like us all to be. Lie to yourself and be overly positive if you like—hey, it might make you a few extra bucks; I’d rather acknowledge the ugly parts of reality as well as the beautiful and get on with a balanced life, thank you.
