Let California Burn

There is accumulating evidence that rather than suppressing fire, we should allow it to return to the role it used to play in Californian ecosystems.

Wildfires naturally clear an area of excess brush that, when acuminated, ignite magnanimously destructive fires. In California they try to put them all out, because fire bad! Back in reality they’re allowing the dry brush to build up, making things worse. "But hey," said a parasite "we can’t let potentially valuable real-estate property to just burn up when someone could be living there! That’s un-American."
